Globetrans PUC Submission to HECO Energy

HECO must swift its business model to the 21st century.   HECO’s Power Supply Improvement Plan (PSIP) currently before the PUC is designed to maximize the utility's current position as a fossil-fuel power producer, extend the life of costly dirty power generation options (including LNG), and all at the expense of solar and other non-polluting power options for the state. 

It's a plan that will create additional economic barriers of entry in the adoption of solar by the general public, while rewarding those utility customers who do not adopt solar - a plan that defeats the very goals of clean energy adoption in Hawaii.

NBC video showing Trapped greenhouse gases may bring bigger storm surges. A recent study published in the journal ‘Nature’ suggests the U.S. may experience a 5 ft. rise in sea level given all of the fossil fuel that has already been burned. NBC’s Anne Thompson reports.
This time-lapse video compresses two months of NASA satellite observations (February – March 2013) into just over a minute to show the full magnitude of this Global Warming fed meltdown event. The fracturing started in late January 2013, as a warming weather system over Alaska fed an ocean current known as the Beaufort Gyre. The strengthened and warmed currents picked away at the southwest corner of the ice sheet until a massive crack opened up north of central Alaska (about 3 seconds into the video), and then another crack, apparently around 1,000 kms long (621 miles) opened up in late February, leading to the collapse of the rest of the ice sheet, all the way east to Bank Island. It took just seven days for the fractures to progress across the entire area from west to east.
